Attack at Rehoboth
March 28, 1675/6
On March 28, 1675/6, in what is now known as Rumford and East Providence, Rhode Island, 1,500 Indigenous warriors attacked and destroyed the town of Rehoboth. Contemporary reports of the incident describe the destruction of nearly seventy houses and barns, as well as the slaughtering of livestock.

Could the immense flames have been seen reflected in the Seekonk River? Would the river have been ice free after what was considered an unusually cold winter?
